Mysterious Myanmar The country slowly opens up for tourists – one of the last and perhaps most endearing secrets of Asia, with a wonderful world of glorious unspoiled temple complexes. They bear witness to the grandeur of bygone Burmese kingdoms. In Myanmar, land of golden pagodas and smiling people, the “FUTURESSE Lotus” grows on Inle Lake in the midst of floating gardens tended by the people of Taung Yoe, a mountain village at the foot of the lake. In this deeply Buddhist region, the lotus is said to possess sacred powers. The women of Taung Yoe worship this flower. For generations, the men have set out on Inle Lake to pluck flowers for their women. They in turn brew a tasty tea from the outer petals of the lotus blossom. This infusion is said to cleanse body and soul, bringing inner beauty to the surface.
